Inside Line Promotions – MINOT, N.D. – The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series will make its annual trip to Minot Speedway on Sunday, Aug. 17.
The Gerdau Magic City Showdown will mark the ninth World of Outlaws event at the track in the past nine years.
“We always enjoy going to Minot,” Paul McMahan said. “It’s a great area and a great race track. The fans always come out. It always puts on a really good race.”
Seven different drivers captured a victory prior to North Dakota native Donny Schatz become the first two-time winner last year.
Terry McCarl claimed the inaugural event in 2006 with defending series champion Daryn Pittman victorious the following year. Two-time series champion Jason Meyers won in 2008. Following Danny Lasoski’s victory in 2009, Craig Dollansky and Joey Saldana split triumphs in 2010.
Rain washed out the 2011 race before Schatz earned the win each of the past two years in the same town where he was born and raised.
